An ace within a straight can function as either the highest card (A - K - Q - J - 10) or the lowest card (5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - A). The first example is known as 'Broadway', depicting the highest ranked straight. Conversely, the second example, referred to as the 'wheel' in poker terminology, illustrates the lowest possible straight.

AboutThe Game

There are a total of 10,240 possible straight combinations, indicating a 0.39% chance of being dealt one. Three-of-a-kind ranks right after the starting hands, consisting of any three cards sharing the same rank plus two other cards. If there are multiple instances of three-of-a-kind revealed, the highest fourth card determines the winner. If the fourth card fails to establish a victor, the fifth card is utilized. If all three-of-a-kind combinations shown are equal in rank, the winnings are divided amongst the players.

In Texas Hold’em and other similar games, a three-of-a-kind is often referred to as a 'set'. This occurs when a player holds a pair in their hole cards that matches one card of the same rank on the board. For instance, if a player has 5 - 5 in their hole cards and 5 appears on the board. An alternative form of three-of-a-kind is termed 'trips', where there’s a matching pair on the board and one hole card matching that rank, such as 5 - 5 - 4 on the board and 5 in the hole cards. There are 54,912 unique three-of-a-kind combinations possible, making them fairly common.
