Texas Hold'em Step-by-Step
Step 1: The Blind Bets
- The first player to act in the betting sequence is the one sitting directly to the left of the Dealer, and they will place a 'Small Blind' Bet, which is half the table's Lower Limit Stake. For tables with stakes higher than $1, the Small Blind is adjusted to the nearest dollar.
- The next player in a clockwise rotation places the 'Big Blind' Bet, which matches the full amount of the table's Lower Limit Stake.
Step 2: The Pocket Cards - The First Deal
- The Dealer will then hand out two concealed Pocket Cards to each player, starting with the one immediately to the left of the Dealer button and moving clockwise.
Step 3: The First Betting Round
Betting Limit: Lower Limit Stake
- The player seated to the left of the Big Blind starts the initial Betting Round, which continues around the table in a clockwise direction. Players must at least 'Call' the Big Blind to stay in the game, and the betting minimum in this round is set to the table’s Lower Limit Stake.
Step 4: \"The Flop\" - The Second Deal
- The Dealer reveals the first three Community Cards, face-up, in the center of the table. These cards are available for all players to use.
Step 5: The Second Betting Round
Betting Limit: Lower Limit Stake
- The second Betting Round starts with the first player still in the game, to the left of the Dealer, and proceeds clockwise around the table, allowing each active player to take their turn.
Step 6: \"The Turn\" - The Third Deal
- The Dealer lays down a fourth Community Card face-up in the center of the table.
Step 7: The Third Betting Round
Betting Limit: Higher Limit Stake
- The first active player to the left of the Dealer begins the third Betting Round, proceeding in a clockwise direction around the table. In this round, the bets must reflect the Higher Limit Stake set by the table.
Step 8: 'The River' - This is when the fourth and last Community Card is dealt.
- The Dealer presents a fifth Community Card, face-up, which is placed in the center of the table.
Step 9: This marks the fourth and final Betting Round.
Betting Limit: Higher Limit Stake
- The first active player following the Dealer commences the fourth Betting Round, which similarly follows a clockwise flow. The betting is again set at the Higher Limit Stake.
Step 10: The Showdown
- After completing the fourth Betting Round, a 'Showdown' occurs if more than one player is still active in the hand (see Showdown rules below). During the Showdown, players create their best possible five-card Poker hand by using any combination of their two Pocket Cards and the five Community Cards available. Texas Hold'em Detailed Description
1. The Buy-in
Prior to joining a Texas Hold'em table at parquetbinet.com, players are required to buy Chips ('Buy-in'). The minimum amount for the buy-in can differ between tables.
2. Posting
Additionally, before 'Sitting-in' at a parquetbinet.com Texas Hold'em table, players need to place an initial fee ('Post') that is equivalent to the table's Lower Limit Stake.
The Post is governed by rules similar to the Blind Bets (see further details below).
Upon posting, players will then take their seats at the Texas Hold'em table.
Players have the option to refrain from participating ('Sitting Out') and can wait for the Big Blind before they join the game. Posting ensures that fairness is maintained by preventing players from entering late and evading Blind Bets.
3. The Blind Bets
In the Texas Hold'em variation at parquetbinet.com, players do not make 'Antes' to seed the Pot. The Pot's initial value is derived from the mandatory Blind Bets only.
Before the initial card dealing occurs, the Blind Bets are made:
- The first Blind Bet, referred to as the 'Small Blind', is made by the first player sitting in to the left of the Dealer, moving in a clockwise direction. This bet amount is set at half of the table's Lower Limit Stake (for tables with a Lower Limit greater than $1, the Small Blind is rounded down to the nearest dollar);
- The second Blind Bet, labeled as the 'Big Blind', is placed by the next player sitting in to the left of the Dealer, again in clockwise order. This amount matches the table's Lower Limit Stake.
In Texas Hold'em Poker, both the Big and Small Blinds are considered 'Live' Bets. Aspiring players are therefore permitted to Check, Call, Raise, or Fold based on these bets.
Once the Blind Bets have been established, each player who is sitting in receives two concealed Pocket Cards. The distribution is completed one card at a time in a clockwise direction, starting with the player directly to the left of the Big Blind.
The initial Betting Round is launched by the first player who is sitting in, proceeding clockwise to the left of the Big Blind.
4. The Betting Rounds & Limits
In parquetbinet.com’s Texas Hold'em, there are four Betting Rounds. In each round, the betting stakes are dictated by the specific table's Lower and Higher Limit Stakes (see details in the how to play section of this site). The Lower Limit Stake is always half of the Higher Limit Stake (for example, a $1/$2 table or a $5/$10 table). Limits, Antes & Rake During the first two Betting Rounds of a Texas Hold'em hand, players place their Bets in multiples of the table's Lower Limit Stake;
- In the final two Betting Rounds of a Texas Hold'em hand, betting multiples align with the table's Higher Limit Stake.
- The Texas Hold'em game on parquetbinet.com adheres to the standard Poker betting structure. Thus, Betting Rounds progress in a clockwise manner, with each active player taking their turn.
Check - To pass the action to the next player still in the hand;
Each player must either:
- Bet - The initial raise in a Betting Round that sets the minimum amount for subsequent players to match in order to stay in the hand;
Or - Raise - This refers to any subsequent increase in the Betting Round that establishes an additional amount for the next players to match in order to remain in the hand;
Or - Call - To match the last player’s Bet amount, enabling them to stay in the hand (during the first Betting Round, each participant must at least Call the value of the Big Blind);
Or - Fold - To relinquish one's hand and exit the current game, resulting in the player forfeiting any money wagered in the hand up to that point.
Or - Consistent with standard Poker rules, each Betting Round allows for a maximum of one Bet and three Raising actions ('Raise', 'Reraise', and 'Cap'). Once a Cap is achieved, subsequent players can only opt to Call or Fold.
If all active players have Checked in sequence,
A Betting Round is concluded when:
- If all players still in the game have Called the last Bet or Raise,
Or - If the remaining players have all opted to Fold, it will leave one active player who automatically claims the Pot; that Betting Round and hand are concluded.
Or - Following each of the next three deals of the cards, termed 'The Flop', 'The Turn', and 'The River', in which Community Cards are dealt, a Betting Round commences. This is initiated by the first active player (the one who has not Folded), going clockwise from the Dealer.
Upon completion of the fourth Betting Round, should there be multiple active players remaining, a 'Showdown' will occur.
5. The Showdown
During the Showdown, each active player combines their two Pocket Cards and the five Community Cards to form the highest-ranked five-card Poker hand possible, utilizing any of the following combinations:
Both Pocket Cards along with three of the Community Cards;
- One Pocket Card alongside four Community Cards;
Or - All five Community Cards (a strategy referred to as 'Playing the Board').
Or - parquetbinet.com adheres to Standard Poker Regulations for determining hand rankings (refer to the Hand Ranking Chart on this site for more information).
The player with the highest-ranking Poker hand is the one to win the Pot, which excludes the Pot claimed by players with superior ranking 'All-in' hands (see further details below).
The hand concludes at this point; the Dealer Button shifts to the next player in the clockwise direction, and a fresh Texas Hold'em hand will be dealt. Limits, Antes & Rake in the how to play section of this site).
Before each new hand, the cards are shuffled thoroughly.
