Texas Hold'em Step-by-Step
Step 1: The Blind Bets
- The player seated immediately to the left of the Dealer is designated 'Sitting-in' and places the 'Small Blind' Bet, which is half of the minimum table stake (for tables with stakes above $1, the Small Blind is rounded down to the nearest dollar) (refer to Betting Rounds & Limits below);
- The next player to the left of the Dealer then places the 'Big Blind' Bet that matches the minimum stake set for that table.
Step 2: The Pocket Cards - The First Deal
- Each player receives two 'Pocket Cards' face down, dealt one at a time in a clockwise order starting with the individual positioned to the left of the 'Dealer button.'
Step 3: The First Betting Round
Betting Limit: Lower Limit Stake
- The first Betting Round is initiated by the player situated immediately to the left of the Big Blind. Proceeding in a clockwise direction, every participating player takes their turn. During this round, players must at least 'Call' the amount of the Big Blind to continue playing, with betting set at the table's Lower Limit Stake.
Step 4: \"The Flop\" - The Second Deal
- The Dealer reveals the first three 'Community Boardcards' face-up, located in the center of the table for all players to utilize.
Step 5: The Second Betting Round
Betting Limit: Lower Limit Stake
- The active player seated to the left of the Dealer prompts the second Betting Round. This round also follows a clockwise order around the table, with each engaged player taking their action.
Step 6: \"The Turn\" - The Third Deal
- A fourth Community Boardcard is then added, displayed face-up in the center of the table.
Step 7: The Third Betting Round
Betting Limit: Higher Limit Stake
- The first active player to the left of the Dealer starts the third Betting Round, which progresses in a clockwise order, with each active player taking their turn. The stakes for this round are set at the Higher Limit Stake.
Step 8: 'The River' - The last card is dealt.
- The Dealer lays down a fifth Community Boardcard face-up in the table's center.
Step 9: The fourth and final Betting Round.

Step 10: The Showdown
- Following the completion of the fourth Betting Round, a 'Showdown' occurs (if there are multiple active players remaining - see The Showdown section below). During the Showdown, each remaining player combines their two Pocket Cards with the five Community Boardcards to form the strongest possible five-card Poker hand (see the Hand Ranking Chart section of this site).
- The player with the highest-ranking Poker hand is awarded the Pot, minus any 'Rake' (see the Limits, Antes & Rake in the how to play section of this site).
Texas Hold'em Detailed Description
1. The Buy-in
Before joining a Texas Hold'em table at parquetbinet.com, players are required to buy a minimum number of chips to participate ('Buy-in'). This minimum amount may differ from one table to another.
2. Posting
Before 'Sitting-in' (joining) at a Texas Hold'em table on parquetbinet.com, players must also pay an initial fee ('Post') equivalent to the table's Lower Limit Stake.
The Post follows similar regulations to those of the Blind Bets (refer to The Blind Bets below).
After placing the Post, the player can take their seat at the Texas Hold'em table.
Players have the choice to 'Sit Out' (not take part) and wait for their turn at the Big Blind before they start to play. Posting ensures fairness by disallowing players from entering the game at an advantageous position to eschew Blind Bets.
3. The Blind Bets
In parquetbinet.com's version of Texas Hold'em, the 'Antes' do not contribute to the Pot. Instead, the initial Pot is built through 'mandatory' wagers known as 'Blind Bets.'
Before the cards are initially dealt, Blind Bets must be placed:
- The initial Blind Bet, referred to as the 'Small Blind', is made by the first Sitting-in player situated to the left of the Dealer, in a clockwise manner. This bet is set at half of the minimum stake at that table (for tables with minimum stakes over $1, the Small Blind is rounded down to the nearest dollar);
- The second Blind Bet, termed the 'Big Blind', is placed by the second Sitting-in player next to the Dealer, again in a clockwise order. This bet is equal to the minimum stake of that table.
In Texas Hold'em, both the Big and Small Blinds are categorized as 'Live' (active) Bets. Consequently, according to Poker regulations, they can be Checked, Called, Raised, or Folded.
After the Blind Bets have been made, players are each dealt two face-down Pocket Cards. These cards are distributed in a clockwise sequence, one card at a time, starting with the player to the left of the Big Blind.
The initial Betting Round commences with the first player Sitting-in to the left of the Big Blind.
4. The Betting Rounds & Limits
In parquetbinet.com's Texas Hold'em, there are four designated Betting Rounds. The betting amounts during these rounds are governed by the specific Lower and Higher Limit Stakes applicable to that table (see the Limits, Antes & Rake In the first two Betting Rounds of a Texas Hold'em hand, players are permitted to bet in multiples of the table's Lower Limit Stake;
- In the concluding two Betting Rounds of a Texas Hold'em hand, players bet using multiples of the Higher Limit Stake of that table.
- parquetbinet.com's Texas Hold'em adheres to the traditional Poker Betting Round structure, with rounds following a clockwise direction, moving from one engaged player to the next.
Check - Pass the chance to act to the next active player;
Each player must either:
- Bet - Create an initial increase for the current Betting Round, establishing the amount each subsequent player must contribute to the Pot in order to remain involved in the hand;
Or - Raise - Apply a second, third, or fourth increase in the current Betting Round, thus determining what the next players must match to continue in the hand;
Or - Call - Match the previous player's bet to stay in the hand (in the initial Betting Round, every player must at least Call the amount of the Big Blind);
Or - Fold - Discard their cards and cease participation in the hand. If this occurs, the player forfeits any amount they had wagered in that hand.
Or - Following conventional Poker guidelines, there can be a maximum of one Bet and three additional Raises ('Raise', 'Reraise', and 'Cap') during any Betting Round. Once a Cap is reached, the remaining players can only Call or Fold.
All active players have opted to Check in turn.
Or
- Every active player has matched the last player's Bet or Raise in sequence.
A Betting Round is concluded when: - If all prior active players have chosen to Fold, leaving just one active player, that player automatically claims the Pot; thus, both the Betting Round and hand conclude immediately.
Or - After each of the subsequent three card distributions ('The Flop', 'The Turn', and 'The River'), which reveal the Community Boardcards, a Betting Round takes place, initiated by the first active player (who has not Folded) to the left of the Dealer.
After the conclusion of the fourth Betting Round, if there are still multiple active players, a 'Showdown' occurs.
Or
During the Showdown, each active player utilizes some combination of their two Pocket Cards alongside the five Community Boardcards to craft the best possible five-card Poker hand:
Utilizing both Pocket Cards and three Community Boardcards;
- Utilizing one Pocket Card and four Community Boardcards;
5. The Showdown - Using all five Community Boardcards (commonly referred to as 'Playing the Board').
Or - parquetbinet.com adheres to Standard Poker Rules when it comes to determining hand rank (see the Hand Ranking Chart section of this website).
The player who constructs the highest-ranked Poker hand is awarded the Pot, subtracting any Pot won by players with superior-ranking 'All-in' hands (see the
Once the hand concludes, the Dealer Button is transferred to the next Sitting-in player in a clockwise manner, and a fresh Texas Hold'em hand is dealt. Or Limits, Antes & Rake
Before each hand, the cards are shuffled.
