Explanation of Small Bet

In fixed limit poker formats, there are two distinct bet sizes that players can use after the flop: the small bet and the big bet. Typically, the small bet aligns with the big blind amount, while the big bet is set at double the small bet. Depending on the specific round being played, one of these two sizes will be applied.

In games of limit Hold’em and Omaha, the small bet is applicable on the preflop and flop betting rounds, while the big bet is reserved for the turn and river. Conversely, in fixed limit stud poker, players will utilize the small bet on all rounds up to and including the fifth street, whereas the big bet is deployed on both the sixth and seventh streets. An exception occurs if a player has an open pair on the fourth street, granting them the option to employ the big bet at that time.

Example of Small Bet usage in a sentence -> Typically, the small bet is precisely half the value of the big bet.
