We commenced our second 888poker LIVE event of 2025 at the Grosvenor's Merchant City Casino, which had once held the title of European Capital of Culture back in 1990! 888poker LIVE Glasgow The event turned out to be an extraordinary triumph, with the Main Event prize pool soaring to an impressive £309,320.
Remarkably, this was the inaugural occasion for 888poker LIVE to visit Scotland, breaking new ground in the north!
The series kicked off on March 13, and the Main Event's initial Day 1 flights and concluding days of excitement took place from March 19 to March 23. The tournament drew an impressive 407 entries, culminating in a significant prize pool with £58,130 set aside for the ultimate victor!
From the outset of the final table, local hero Dean Lyall executed a bold strategy, systematically eliminating several opponents. His command continued in a heads-up battle with Daniel Johnson, and in under thirty minutes, Lyall finished the tournament triumphantly.
Both Dean and Daniel exhibited exceptional skill and deserve a standing ovation for their dedication and talent displayed throughout the game.
The action from Day 2 of the High Roller, as well as Days 1B through 3 of the Main Event, was broadcast live on our 888pokerTV Twitch channel, intensifying the excitement for viewers!
Day 1A – Highlights from 888poker LIVE Glasgow Main Event
Day 1A of the 888poker Glasgow Main Event unfolded in a relatively serene manner, quite suitable for Dmitri Dudakov, who emerged as the chip leader in this initial flight.
Dudakov excelled in the opening flight, outpacing all competitors and accumulating the entire 240,000 chips available. He was the sole participant to advance to Day 2 from the eight competitors present.
Meanwhile, 49 talented players entered the £1,650 buy-in High Roller, including notable ambassadors of 888poker such as Ian Simpson, Vivian Saliba, and Lucia Navarro, alongside other contenders like Andrew Hulme, Jack Hardcastle, and Matthew Davenport.
Day 1BC – Highlights from 888poker LIVE Glasgow Main Event
Day 1B of the Main Event brought a much more vibrant atmosphere. Stephen Barnes, last year’s champion of the 888poker LIVE Manchester Main Event, found himself in a familiar position.
In August, he claimed the title, the trophy, and a remarkable £58,000 in prize money. This time, he made the trek of 300 kilometers north and quickly established dominance among the 22 players who made it to Day 2.
888poker’s team of ambassadors, including Ian Simpson, Vivian Saliba, Josh Manley, Lucia Navarro, Nick Eastwood, and Ricardo Mateus, were also present. Regrettably, only Vivi (169,500) and Josh (105,000) secured places in Day 2, while the renowned poker couple, Matthew and Sinead Davenport, fell short on Day 1B.
With today's 112 entries, the total participation reached 120 players, gearing up for the Turbo Day 1C. Ian Simpson, who triumphed in the last 888poker Live tournament held in Madrid in January, dominated the Turbo flight, being the only participant to proceed from 13 entries, claiming 390,000 and the lead in chips.
As the day concluded, 133 players had entered throughout the initial three flights, with 24 of them advancing to Day 2.
Days 1DEF – Highlights from 888poker LIVE Glasgow Main Event

A total of 32 players from 157 entries emerged from Day 1D. With the turbo Day 1E flight taking place, the participant count surpassed 300, exceeding the guaranteeing prize pool of £250,000.
Day 1F witnessed an additional 74 entries, pushing towards a prize pool exceeding £300,000 as 21 players advanced to Day 2.
During Day 1D, Maogen Fu (376,000) made another impressive performance after already claiming two titles in recent days – the High Roller and Big Shot events.

The first elimination was GK. Chip leader Daniel Johnson opened with a bet of 80,000 using AdQd. Dean Lyall called from the cutoff while GK moved all-in with KJo from the button. Daniel called, and Dean folded out.
Next out was William Haughey in 8th place, finishing with a prize of £7,430 after his pocket Jacks were overrun by Johnson's Ako, who paired his ace on the flop.
👏 Congratulations to the gentleman himself, William Haughey, on securing 8th place with a reward of £7,430! @grosvenor #glasgow #pokerlife pic.twitter.com/nmfp9F9SgL

Zbigniew Wieczorek found himself with pocket Nines in early position, but in a twist of fate, Dean Lyall held QQ. The Queens prevailed, sending Wieczorek home with £9,770.
Jack Moore followed suit, leaving the tournament after getting AJo in the hijack position. Dean Lyall called with pocket Nines. Jack flopped a gutshot draw but missed both the turn and the river. Moore earned £13,050 for his sixth place finish.
Dean Lyall ensnared another contender when Harry Cattanach raised, eventually moving all-in against Harry's pocket Aces. Unfortunately, his AKo couldn't compete with the Aces, resulting in Harry's exit in fifth place with a prize of £17,540.
Michael Broadhurst was eliminated in fourth place after pushing all-in from the small blind with K2o while Dean held AdQd, which quickly extinguished Michael’s hopes for a double-up. Broadhurst's departure came with £23,600.
Another victim of Dean Lyall was Martin Byrne, who took a gamble with A6o against Dean's pocket Nines. Once again, Lyall's Nines proved strong, eliminating Martin in third place with a reward of £31,800.
We were now heads-up.

888poker LIVE Glasgow – Heads-up Action!
This final table represented one of the quickest in the history of 888poker LIVE, and the heads-up match was equally rapid.
Dean extended his lead to a startling 3:1 at one juncture and maintained his advantage throughout. About thirty minutes into heads-up play, Dan found pocket Sixes, but they were no match against Dean’s pocket Kings.
With a clear run to the end, Dean Lyall was crowned the inaugural champion of the 2025 888poker LIVE Glasgow Main Event.
“Returning here to secure the win feels fantastic. The home-field advantage truly worked in my favor. I’m ecstatic about finally clinching this title,” Lyall expressed following his victory among 407 competitors.
“Honestly, my success largely came down to getting a lot of solid hands, more than anything else,” he noted. “I had quite a few strong hands, and that was the key.”
Well played to all!
